So, the reason I decided to write a blog…
It actually came from someone on Instagram! They had sent me a message and asked where the link to my blog was. I explained to them that I didn’t have one, but that got me thinking.
There’s something about the written word the is so liberating.
Perhaps that’s one of the reasons I love fountain pens and ink so much; it is so expressive. With the stroke of a pen, I can let the world know how excited I am about something. Likewise, in type, the words I use tell a story beyond the structure of my sentences. It layers my writing, making it nearly three dimensional. Allowing the reader to step through their computer screen to run along the beaches of southern California with me, or maybe to sit next to me while I pen a letter to my unborn daughter.
I reached out to some of my fellow pen-friends and decided it was worth a shot… obviously, it must’ve been because here I am!
So, why Life and Tines?
Here’s the thing, My life is like a TV sitcom… I am a married father of two (soon to be three) girls, and as you can imagine things get comical. I run for sanity, fun and because the Navy makes me, but above that, I am a fountain pen and ink enthusiast or addict, either one works. So here you’ll find a little of everything; Parenting wins (and losses… probably more of those actually), other life stuff, and more than any of that – pens and ink!
I am not an expert, nor am I a collector, I am a user of fountain pens. I’ve made many “newbie” mistakes, and have the broken nibs to prove it. I have spilled ink with the best of them. So the pen advice and reviews here will be from the standpoint of everyday use and care. If it doesn’t hold up to my duties in the Navy, I just don’t hold onto the pen, to be honest.
